4.2 Fate - Ultimecia Castle |
The fourth disk opens with exactly where you left off: In the Lunatic Pandora with Rinoa taken hostage by Seifer. Quickly form a new party. Head back to bridge where you fought Mobile Type 8, and this time climb up the ladder on the right. Make your way up the structure until you arrive in a room where Seifer and Rinoa is.
Seifer struggles with Rinoa as Adel's hand comes out and grabs the frightened Rinoa. |
Boss: Sorceress Adel
Lv 46 HP: 51,000
Draw: Firaga, Thundaga, Blizzaga
Mug: 1x Samantha Soul
Win: N/A
Rinoa
Lv 46 HP: 8036
Draw: Esuna, Dispel, Regen
Mug: 1x Megalixir
Win: N/A
Whatever you do, don't use GFs! First of all, cast Regen on Rinoa, as Adel absorbs her powers from time to time. Use all your powerful magic on Adel. I suggest using Irvine's Limit Break as it only attacks one enemy garanteed. After you've killed Adel, Ellone will help Rinoa. After she is free, Time Compression begins...
FMV
The party falls through a portal, and then goes
through all the bizzare events such as underwater and the coast as time
compresses.
Your party lands in a familiar area. As walk into the Save Point, dozens appear! Yes even Save Points gets compressed in time. Save with the first Save Point and head to the door. Advance towards the chair, and a ghastly Witch appears...
Sorceress A
Lv 45 HP: 3345
Draw: Firaga, Thundaga, Blizzaga
Win: N/A
Sorceress B
Lv 45 HP: 4496
Draw: Haste, Double
Win: N/A
Final Sorceress
Lv 45 HP: 120,000
Draw: Aero, Holy
Win: 50 AP
Treat the first two types of witches like trash on Tuesday, but the final sorceress is like a boss. First cast Haste and Shell on your characters. Use GFs and limits (You should have a full stock of Aura). Watch out for its damaging attacks, such as Meteor. When a countdown starts, quickly finish her off, otherwise she will cast Ultima. After defeating all the Sorceresses, you will arrive in Edea's Orphanage.
Head to area where you first talked to Edea. You will find corpses of White SeeDs who tried to destroy Ultimecia. Head for the giant chains.
Dark Clouds become clearer, as the gloomy Castle of the demented Ultimecia towers and covers the sky, displaying the ultimate evil. |
Portal 1: Takes you to Grandidi Forest Coast
Portal 2: Takes you to the Centra Ruins area
Portal 3: Takes you to the Great Plains of Galbadia
Hidden Portal 4: Takes you to the Kaskabald Desert,
Esthar
Head to the castle doors, and notice as everyone reforms. Once inside, you will find out that your powers has been sealed within the castle:
Magic
GF
Draw
Item
GFs Ablities
Limit Breaks
Reviving KO
Save
To get those abilities back you have to battle 8 special bosses who is somewhere in the castle. Each boss is unique, and some are quite tough to find (Note that you can switch parties and members whenever you step in green lights found throughout the castle) . Here is a list of all the bosses and where they are located:
Sphinxaur/Sphinxara
Lv 80 HP: 10,000
Weak against Holy
Draw: Firaga, Thundaga, Curaga
Mug: 2x Elixir
Win: 1x Megalixir, 30 AP
As the first boss, it should be easy to defeat, use your only ability (Attack). Ignore the other monsters it summons.
Finding the second boss isn't tough. Turn right from where the Sphinxaur was and head down the stairs to the door. Go down to the door in the next room and you will find yourselves in the Art Gallery. Examine all the paintings in the room (including the ones upstairs) and then examine the large painting on the right. Insert the following in this order:
VIVIDARIUM
INTERVIGILIUM
VIATOR
Afterwards, a yellowish-gold thing should float near the stairs...
Boss: Trauma
Lv 55 HP: 34,114
Weak against Wind
Draw: Meltdown
Win: 1x Elem Atk, 30 AP
Droma
Lv 56 HP: 3128
Weak against Wind
Draw: Esuna, Dispel
Mug: 5x Meteor Stone
This boss is also pretty easy to defeat. If you unsealed the magic ability, use Aero, Tornado spells, plus any other powerful ones. If you unsealed GF, use Pandemona and others, such as Bahamut and Cactuar. Defeating the little Dromas it summons shouldn't be a problem. Watch for its Pulse Cannon move.
Now go to the room in the north from the Gallery and enter the middle passageway. Enter the room on the left and you should be in a prison cell with a corpse holding a key. Pick up the key, and yikes! A red Iron Giant comes out! Make contact with the giant and get ready for a tough battle!
Boss: Red Giant
Lv 56 HP: 30,000
Draw: Demi
Win: 1x Diamond Armor, 30 AP
A powerful enemy. Physical attacks just won't work. Use powerful magic, but note that Demi isn't strong on him. Use GFs such as Diablos and Cactuar. Watch out when it throws his sword away, It will throw punches at you. As long as you have Diablos and Cactuar equiped, he should be fairly easy to defeat.
After defeating the boss, switch to the other party, or, use your current party to go back to the main stairway. Enter the big door north of where you fought the first boss. Walk on the giant chandalier until it falls. Now examine the hatch and open it. Walk down the staircase and make contact with the insect.
Boss: Tri-Point
Lv 51 HP: 22,400
Weak against Fire/Ice (Random), Absorbs Thunder,
Earth has no Effect
Draw: Haste, Tornado, Blind
Win: 1x Rocket Engine, 30 AP
A quite simple enemy. Its HP isn't very high. It has a dangerous move, which has it using its triple needles. Cure your party members before attempting any attacks. Just use the GFs Shiva, then Ifrit, Shiva again, then Ifrit, and so on. If you rather just attack it, use non-elemental GFs, who some good magic. Using Limits can take it easily.
After defeating the insect, head back up to the ground and go to the room on the north. Go in the Organ chamber and up the stairs. You will see a key on the bridge, but as you approuch it, it falls down. Now head back to the room where you fought the Red Giant, but don't go in. Examine the switch to the side of the door and push it. It will drain all of the water and a key is glistering on the south-east part of the room. Pick it up and enter the room you couldn't go in before (Armory). In the armory, go up to the spooky creature and you will fight any boss...
Lv 80 HP: 9800 Weak against Holy Draw: Bio, Demi, Quake, Regen Mug: 1x Life Ring |
Lv 80 HP: 15,000 Weak against Holy Draw: Esuna, Haste, Bio Mug: 2x Lightweight |
Lv 80 HP: 9800 Weak against Holy Draw: Shell, Protect Mug: 1x Rune Armlet |
When you first enter the battle you meet the monsters that were found in the Great Salt Lake. Watch out for its Status magic, but use Alexander or other powerful GFs to take them out quickly. When they die, a huge version of it appears! Its very deadly as each time you do a physical attack on it, it counter-attacks! It also uses a lot of Status changing magic, so use Remedies or Esuna magic. If you stick with magic and GFs throughout the battle, you should have no problem.
Now after that battle, head back to the room just above where you fought the giant insect. Examine the hatch near the green light. Now switch to the other party in hte main hall and hea for the large door at the top of the stairway. Run across the chandalier-you would notice that it didn't fall. Enter the door on the north. You should arrive in the Terrace. Make contact with the flying blue thing for a boss fight! |
A fairly easy boss. Just don't use physical attacks on it, otherwise it will counter-attack powerfully, damaging about 4000 HP. Firstly you can cast Slow on it, then use Limit Breaks if you've unsealed it. Summon GFs, but don't use Shiva. I suggest using Eden as it can destroy it with on hit if you've boosted it on Lv 40. Keep your HP high, because when it dies it casts Ultima.
Now switch back to Squall and company with the switch point. Head back to the main hallway but go left. Go down the stairs and enter the next door. Head for the door in the centre and you should arrive in a spooky hallway. Go in the door on the left next to the window. You will arrive in a room with coffins (Vincent?). Open the middle two coffins first. The boss will reveal itself.
Boss: Catoblepas
Lv 80 HP: 50,000
Weak against Earth/Water, Absorbs Thunder
Draw: Meteor
Win: 1x Status Atk, 30 AP
A quite tough boss. Before you fight junction Thundaga to your Elemental Defence. The boss uses Thundaga quite a lot and it also uses some Tornado spells. Casting Meltdown on it and using GFs is a good way to take it out quickly, otherwise cast Quake and Water with Triples. Brothers and Leviathan GFs are good too.
Now you've got one more boss to go! Head back to where you picked up the Treasure Vault Key (Where the fountain is). Go to the room to the north and you'll arrive back to the Organ Chamber. Go up the stairs. Go across the bridge and keep proceeding up until you arrive in a spiral staircase with a gold bell hanging from the ceiling. Hop onto the gold bell and go through to the other side. You will be in high area with a dragon flying around that looks like Bahamut. Make contact with the dragon to face the last of the 8 bosses...
Boss: Tiamat
Lv 58 HP: 89,600
Strong against Fire/Thunder, Wind/Earth has no
effect
Draw: Flare
Win: 1x Status Guard, 30 AP
This boss cannot hurt you if you junction Thunder to Elemental Defence! It can only do on move and that is its Dark Flare. First of all cast Meltdown and Slow on it, then use you limits to take it out quickly. Squall's Lion Heart limit destroys it in one hit. If its Dark Flare does hurt your members, cast Regen on your characters, or Leviathan's Recover. Overall it should be fairly east to take down.
Now all your powers have been unsealed, its time to face Ultimecia herself. Head back to the bell area and this time just keep proceeding up the stairs. Draw from the Draw Point (Stop) in the Gears area and go through the door. Go across the clock face and climb down all the ladders. Now proceed to the large chamber to the north. Equip all necessary magic and GFs, then use a tent or a cottage. Save your game and examine the door. Pick the 1st option.

As all your 6 party members are here, Ultimecia will randomly choose who she will battle first. Usually she chooses the members who are junctioned the worst so just kill the unwanted members yourself ^_^ and the better members will appear. Once your desired members are in place its time to kick some ass!
Sorceress Ultimecia
Lv 65 HP: 46,000
Weak against Poison, Holy has no effect
Draw: Haste, Demi, Holy, Double

Once the final Ultimecia has been defeated, it will explode and the real time compression begins. Your characters are lost outside of time. Now after seeing what happens, the screen switches to Squall as he falls into a time warp. He meets the young Matron and his younger self. Squall tells Matron about SeeDs and Garden. As they talk, the Ultimecia appears and gives her powers to Edea, then dies. Squall then is sent back outside of time...
Ending FMV
(Note: no pics so it won't ruin it!)
Squall is lost in a grey desert. He walks
in a direction. He seemed to have walked for hours, until finally
he collapses in exhaustion. He sees that the desert has turned into
a floating rock. He then sees a feather float from the sky.
His hand grasps it, then suddenly has evil images of his SeeD career, and
his encounter with Rinoa and how se influenced him. Suddenly Squall
has a vision of Rinoa die. A tear drops from Squall's eye, and the
feather falls.
Rinoa, who was looking for Squall, finds him unconscious on the ground. She kneels down to wake Squall, but he remains still. Rinoa starts to cry, when suddenly the sky opened up and a flower field surrounded them. Rinoa then realizes that Time Compression has ended and that means that Squall is still alive.
In the town of Balamb, Seifer has a bad day in fishing, while Raijin leaps in joy as he catches a rare Balamb fish. Seifer cannot control his anger and goes into a fit. Fujin then kicks Raijin into the water. Suddenly Balamb Garden flies over the harbour and Seifer looks up with a contented smile on his face...
In the Bluffs of Winhill, Laguna stands alone in a grassy field. He then looks at his hand and he remembers the time when Raine was with him in Winhill. Raine begins to talk to Laguna when Laguna begins to walk away. Raine follows but suddenly Laguna turns around and places a gold ring into Raine's finger. Raine looks down in delight, then Laguna shows her his gold ring. Then Raine hugs him as the moonlight makes everything peaceful.
In the present, Laguna visits Raine's grave. Ellone comes with Kiros and Ward and waves, while Balamb Garden flies above them. Here ends the journey and adventure of Final Fantasy VIII...
